Art classes & workshops

All workshops are held at The House of Colour in Newhaven with Sophie Mahir unless otherwise stated. They are suitable for total beginners and also for those with more experience perhaps wanting to try something new.

One-day workshops are run with a max of 4 people for Painting with Pastels and 6 for Fun with Acrylics.
Materials are charged at a min of £5 per person, but a wider range of items can be purchased if required.

Sophie prides herself on providing a delicious, healthy home-cooked lunch; and having teas, coffees and nibbles on hand for the breaks.

The emphasis is on fun, discovery, and learning at your own pace.

Sophie is a member of The National Acrylic Painters Association & a professional associate member of the Society of All Artists.

Private Tuition

"I met Sophie Mahir whilst following the Newhaven Art Trail in the Autumn of 2006. Much impressed by her work, and learning that she conducted various workshops, I decided to attend a One-Day Acrylic course with her. The day proved to be great fun as Sophie, who is an excellent and enthusiastic teacher, took us through the various techniques one can use when working with acrylics. I particularly enjoyed producing a piece of work using a palette knife and brushes, which enabled me to experiment with colour and texture. An excellent lunch was also provided which was greatly enjoyed by all."
